UNAIDS COUNTRY DIRECTOR PRESENTS NOTICE OF CREDENCE TO INTERNATIONAL MINISTER

The Country Director of the Combined United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), Mr. Hector Sucilla Perez has pledged his commitment to supporting Ghana in its fight against the Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) epidemic. He made this particular known when he introduced his letter of credence to the Minister for International Affairs and Regional Incorporation on Friday, 25 th November, 2022.
Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, on her part, stated that the Government associated with Ghana is very passionate about issues relating to HIV/AIDS. She observed that AIDS is a health, social and economic issue that requires a comprehensive approach. The lady noted that with the assistance from the UNAIDS, Ghana will definitely be able to win in its combat the disease and help People Living with HIV live productive lifestyles without stigmatisation and have access to Anti-RetroViral treatment.
Mister. Perez stated that Ghana has over the years remained devoted to its fight against HIV/AIDS. This individual added that a collaborative effort between the country, the UNAIDS, and the rest of the world could end AIDS by the calendar year 2030. He further additional that although the country’s education on the disease has been good, a lot more women are not stimulated in the fight against the disease due to gender disparity. He stated that the new roadmap within the fight against HIV/AIDS seeks to eliminate new infections in women and kids and make it easier for people to know their HIV standing.
