MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND REGIONAL INTEGRATION ATTENDS 77TH SESSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY

 
The Foreign Minister also met with the Director General of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Mr. Jagan Chapagain, where the two discussed cooperation on climate change and how to garner support for global action to combat it.
The Hon. Minister, Ms. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, also held a meeting with the State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, H. E. Ms. Livia Leu. The two Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and how Switzerland could glean from Ghana’s experience at the UN Security towards Switzerland’s upcoming tenure as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council from 2023 – 2024.
The Hon. Minister held bilateral meetings in the margins of the General Assembly on Monday, 19th September, 2022 with her colleague Foreign Ministers from Portugal, Georgia, Estonia, and Hungary. Their discussions focused on bilateral relations with Ghana and ways to strengthen cooperation with the respective countries, as well as Ghana’s priorities as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Ms. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey is accompanying President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to participate in the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, from 20th to 23rd September, 2022.
In a separate meeting with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, H. E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the discussions focused on ways Ghana can support the organization in the attainment of peace within its region.
