Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto to attend meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs

NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs will meet in Brussels on 6–7 April 2022. The meeting will focus on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, NATO’s Strategic Concept and the international security situation.

The Foreign Ministers of Finland, Sweden, Georgia, Ukraine, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea as well as the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy have been invited to attend the session on the international security situation.  Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto will represent Finland at the meeting.

“Because of the changed security situation in Europe, it is important to engage in dialogue not only with NATO but also with other key actors. The meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs provides an excellent opportunity to exchange views not only with NATO countries, Sweden and the EU, but also with Ukraine and Georgia as well as with key countries in the Asia-Pacific region,” Foreign Minister Haavisto says.

In connection with the meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Minister Haavisto will also have a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Ann Linde
