Kauko Aaltomaa took up his jobs as Head of Vision of the European Union Capacity Developing Mission in Somalia

On 9 January, Director General Kauko Aaltomaa , that is on leave of défaut from the Police Department on the Ministry of the Interior, took up his duties as Head of Mission of the Eu Capacity Building Mission for Somalia (EUCAP Somalia). EUCAP Somalia is a civilian situation management mission under the EU’s Common Security and Support Policy. Its tasks include things like promoting maritime security on Somalia and supporting home of the country’s police as well as judicial administrations.
In the Aaltomaa worked as Mind of Operations for the Civilian Planning and Conduct Capacity (CPCC) in Brussels via 2021 to 2022. The CPCC is part of the Western european External Action Service. Out of 2017 to 2020, having been Head of Mission to the European Union Police and Tip of Law Mission for that Palestinian Territory (EUPOL COPPS). He has also worked in UN missions in the Middle Far east, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Finnish experts have took part in in EUCAP Somalia considering that the start of the mission in 2012. The entire staff of the mission is 222, including advisers with 22 EU Member States that and locally contracted experts. The Mission is based in Mogadishu with field locations in Somaliland and Puntland, and a back-office in Nairobi, Kenya. Kauko Aaltomaa often is the first Finnish Head involving Mission.
