EU Foreign Affairs Council to discuss Sahel and coastal nations of West Africa plus Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

Other topical matters within the Council agenda will be the circumstances in Iran, Armenia plus Azerbaijan, Montenegro, Afghanistan, Venezuela, and Ethiopia.
The EU foreign ministers will certainly continue their discussion upon Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The topics they will include include continued support in order to Ukraine through the European Peacefulness Facility, energy resilience, responsibility, Ukraine’s peace proposal, and preparations for the EU–Ukraine Peak on 3  February.
EUROPEAN UNION foreign ministers will convene in Brussels on twenty three January. Minister for International Affairs Pekka Haavisto will certainly represent Finland at the meeting.
“When the Foreign Affairs Council meets within Brussels, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has lasted almost one year. Support to Ukraine is the most important topic on the plan. Finland, and the whole from the EU, must continue their particular support to Ukraine as Russia keeps attacking Ukraine and its energy infrastructure, ” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Haavisto.
The EU foreign ministers will exchange views in the situation in Sahel and the coastal countries of Western Africa. Finland welcomes the particular EU’s efforts to stabilise the countries in the Sahel region and to help all of them return to the democratic procedure and to support the coastal countries to prevent the distribute of instability in the region.
“To find a treatment for the situation in the Sahel and the coastal countries of Western Africa, we need intensive conversation with the region and we have to support it both regionally and bilaterally, ” Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) Haavisto says.
The EU foreign ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) will have an informal lunch with Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority Mohammad Shtayyeh . They will also discuss the situations in Ukraine and Iran along with Director General of the Global Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi over an informal breakfast.
