EU Foreign Affairs Council to discuss Russian aggression against Ukraine, situation in Israel and the region, the Sahel, and economic security – Ministry for Foreign Affairs

Foreign Affairs Council

“The EU must continue its support to Ukraine and move forward with the security commitments to Ukraine,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Valtonen.
The Foreign Affairs Council has the situation in Israel and the region on its agenda. EU foreign ministers will convene in Brussels on 11 December. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will represent Finland at the meeting. The ministers will also exchange views on the latest developments in the Sahel and the foreign policy dimension of the EU’s economic security. “The humanitarian situation in Gaza is deteriorating further. At the same time, violence has considerably increased in the West Bank. The EU must continue to contribute to efforts towards ending violence and reaching a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” Foreign Minister Valtonen says.
In connection with the Council meeting, a dinner with Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, an informal breakfast with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Samveli Mirzoyan and an Eastern Partnership ministerial meeting will be organised.
