Fijian Senior Officials Partnership in the Advanced Protocol Training Programme

The Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) convened a two-day “Advanced Protocol Training” today for Fijian high-level officials under the auspices of the Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The second of two customised training programs was officially opened this morning, with 34 Fijian senior officials from 20 ministries and agencies. “Singapore and Fiji celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations last year. We are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the SCP this year. We are fellow small island states that have supported each other at the international fora, especially on areas like climate change. To date, we have also welcomed more than 1,300 Fijian officials to our SCP courses in areas such as finance and public administration,” Ms. Liok said.
In his remarks, the Chief of Protocol, Mr Jiko Rasoqosoqo said the collaboration demonstrates the warm, enduring, and excellent bilateral relations between Fiji and Singapore.He said this training is an opportunity for the participants to enhance their understanding and knowledge of the importance of Diplomatic Protocol in the advancement of Fiji’s interests, and standing at a global and regional level.During her welcoming remarks on behalf of the Singapore Government and Singapore High Commissioner to Fiji, Mary Seet-Cheng, Singapore Training facilitator Belinda Liok said the two-day customised course for Fiji’s senior officials is a reflection of our friendly bilateral relations.Mr. Rasoqosoqo added that Diplomatic Protocol is at the heart of Fiji’s foreign services and Fiji’s relations and perception with the world are shaped through the diplomatic protocol and standards that we set.
He expressed his appreciation to the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the support in coordinating the Diplomatic Protocol Training for the Fijian officials.The training will end tomorrow following the presentation of certificates to all the participants. The first training was held last week with 43 participants from various ministries and agencies.
