COP27 highlights the importance of youths in amplyfying climate advocacy

Fiji’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations and Head of the Fijian delegation at #COP27 met with Pacific youths at the United Nations Global Conference on Climate in Sharm el- Sheikh in Egypt. He commended the youths for their determination in championing climate issues which affect the livelihood of communities in Fiji and the Pacific. He informed the youths that the “Summit of the Future” also includes a declaration for future generations and youths will be carrying forward the mandates of the UN’s new initiative. He thanked the youths for their contributions at #COP27 and wished them well in their future endeavors.
Ambassador Prasad said the youths have an important role in shaping a #sustainable and secure future, that #UnitedNations will support them all the way. The Pacific youths extended their sincere appreciation to Ambassador Prasad for his strong leadership in representing Pacific’s interest at COP27 and beyond.He said it is hoped that #COP28 would bring to the forefront, key elements of oceans, biodiversity, nature and climate action, to have it integrated into #UNFCCC process and formalise the negotiations processes.
