UPDATE – Media advisory – European Council meeting of 24 and 25 March 2022

The European Council will meet on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 March 2022 in the Europa building in Brussels. Address: Rue de la Loi 155 / Wetstraat 155, 1040 Brussels

There will be no selection of journalists.

Badge collection

A media accreditation desk will be set up at the LEX building (Rue de la Loi/Wetstraat, 145) outside the security perimeter, to allow for collection of badges during the event.

Opening hours:

  • Wednesday 25 March, 13:00-17:00
  • Thursday 24 March, 8:30 – 17:30
  • Friday 25 March, 8:30 – 17:30

Media representatives that have already collected their annual badge for 2022 don’t need to go to the Lex accreditation desk and can directly enter via the Justus Lipsius main entrance.

Sanitary requirements

Media attending the summit will be required to follow any public health regulations in place at the time, including Belgium entry requirements for those traveling into the country (please check on https://www.info-coronavirus.be/en/travels/), as well as any additional measures decided by the institution to ensure a safe working environment.

By using their badges, either event or annual, media representatives declare on the honour to fulfil one of the following conditions related to the covid-19 pandemic:

  • full covid-19 vaccination
  • valid recovery certificate from covid-19 (less than 150 days)
  • a negative PCR or antigen (in a pharmacy) test taken less than 48h before the event

Press conferences

The main press conference will be organised with Q&A only from journalists present in the room. No videoconference link will be available.

Media opportunities

A detailed programme will be published at a later stage. Depending on the sanitary conditions and the need to guarantee a safe working environment for everyone, please note that opportunities such as roundtables or doorsteps may be restricted to media pools.

In case capacity limitations apply, in particular for the doorsteps areas, priority would be given to reporters (i.e. journalists asking questions). Host camera and sound services will be available in the area.
