Under the remit of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU, the Slovenian Ministry of Justice will host a high-level conference on combating hate speech and hate crime.
The event will raise awareness of the harmful effects of hate speech and hate crime for individuals and society at large and the need to effectively address it. A special focus will be placed on hate speech online.
The European Commission will have the opportunity to present its plans for the new initiative aimed at including all forms of hate speech and hate crime in the list of EU crimes in Article 83(1) TFEU.
