Declaration by the High Representative on behalf of the EU on the alignment of certain third countries concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Lebanon

On 30 July 2021 the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2021/1277¹ concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Lebanon.

This Decision establishes a new framework for targeted restrictive measures against natural persons responsible for undermining democracy or the rule of law in Lebanon, and natural or legal persons, entities or bodies associated with them.

The Candidate Countries the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Albania², as well as Georgia align themselves with this Council Decision.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
