A group of representatives from Statens Serum Institut, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and the Danish Ministry of Justice today conducted a review of the list of countries outside of the EU/Schengen and UK that meet the EU’s COVID-19 criterion. On this basis and guided by a principle of caution, it has been assessed that the Danish borders can be re-opened for entry from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Thailand.
However, all six of these countries have entry restrictions or quarantine requirements for incoming Danish travellers. The travel advice for all of these countries will thus remain “orange”. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark thereby continues to advise against all non-essential travel to countries outside of the EU/Schengen and UK.
If a country categorised as “orange” by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark solely because of entry restrictions or quarantine requirements lifts the applicable restrictions and/or requirements, the travel advice for that country will be eased. The travel advice for Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Thailand will thus be categorised as “yellow” if these countries lift the entry restrictions and/or quarantine requirements for incoming Danish travellers.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark has also updated the travel advice for countries in the EU/Schengen and UK based on this week’s figures from Statens Serum Institut. As a result, the travel advice for the Swedish regions of Kronoberg and Blekinge has been eased, joining Västerbotten as Swedish regions to which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark no longer advises against non-essential travel.
Finally, the model for the EU/Schengen and UK has been adjusted to include the four microstates – Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City State/The Holy See – which are now covered by the model and thus open for tourist travel.
