The Vice President and Minister of Health and Childcare of Zimbabwe, Constantino Chiwenga received the Ambassador of Cuba, Carmelina Ramírez Rodríguez. The minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technological Development, Amon Murwira and other senior health officials also participated in the meeting.
Chiwenga highlighted his country’s cooperation with the largest of the Antilles, mainly in the health and education sectors. He highlighted the performance of the Cuban Medical Brigade since the time of Zimbabwean independence. He congratulated Cuba on the success of the Covid-19 vaccines and made it clear that this achievement will also benefit Zimbabwe and the world. Both sides pledged to continue strengthening relations, especially in the international arena, as the two face similar challenges, including being under US sanctions.
