Suva, March 11. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, sent a message to his counterpart from Papua New Guinea, Honorable James Marape, to express condolences on behalf of the Government and the Cuban people for the recent death of Sir Michael Somare, recognized as the founding father of that Independent State of the Pacific.
In the letter, Marrero Cruz asked the current Papuan Head of Government to extend his condolences to Somare’s family.
On his side, the Cuban Ambassador to Fiji, Carlos Manuel Rojas Lago, visited the High Commission of Papua New Guinea in this capital to sign the book of condolences. He extensively exchanged with his counterpart, Her Excellency Lucy Bogari, on the trajectory and the outstanding role played by Sir Michael Somare in favor of the independence and unity of the region.
