Philippine-Cuba Cultural and Friendship Society nominates Henry Reeve Brigade for Nobel Prize

Kuala Lumpur, January 29 – Philippine-Cuba Cultural and Friendship Society nominated the International Brigade of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics “Henry Reeve” to receive the Nobel Peace Prize 2021.

In the justification sent to the Nobel Prize Committee, the nominating organization highlighted the humanitarian character of the contingent since its creation and the high number of lives saved.

Regarding the current work carried out by Henry Reeve, they expressed in the nomination document that “Since the Covid-19 outbreak, the more or less 3,000 employees of the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade have gone to at least 39 countries and territories, the majority of which are among the poorest and most affected in their respective regions. Again, as healthcare workers dedicated to public health, they volunteered to leave their families for months, risking their own lives to treat and care for Covid-19 patients in urgently needed countries. They showed the importance of international cooperation by being helpful. Through their actions, they promote peace among people. As an organization that promotes understanding, peace and friendship between our two countries, we believe that the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade is truly an outstanding agent for international understanding and cooperation and world peace. “
