Norwegian friends pay tribute to Cuban women.

Oslo, March 8, 2022. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Friendship Association with Cuba in Norway wanted to pay tribute to Cuban women through a conversation with the ambassador, Maité Rivero Torres.

The intervention of the Cuban diplomat about her experiences as Head of Mission in the Republic of Guinea when that country was hit by the Ebola epidemic, raised great interest.

With emotion, the ambassador recalled moments that contributed a lot to her both personally and professionally. She particularly appreciated to have had the opportunity to meet and work with the Cuban health professionals who traveled to that African country to take part in the fight against the terrible disease and did a laudable job, writing a glorious chapter of the international cooperation that Cuba offers in the health sector.

An excellent complement were the television reports made by the journalist Yordanis Rodríguez Laurencio and the cameraman Tomás Oliveros, as well as the obligatory references to the book “Red Zone. The Cuban experience in the fight against Ebola”, by Enrique Ubieta Gómez, and “To live always the day 21. Face to face against Ebola”, by Dr. Carlos Manuel Castro Baras, one of the protagonists of that feat.

I was a good occasion to also highlight the help offered by Cuba to other countries in the fight against Covid-19, as a new example of the tradition of solidarity and internationalism that characterizes the Cuban Revolution. (Embacuba Noruega).
