Message from the Jose Martí Cultural Association of solidarity with Cuba.

In 1959, news of the great victorious revolution in Cuba traveled around the world reaching our country. It was a time when the Greek people were experiencing persecution, exile, imprisonment, executions and extreme poverty at the hands of a regime imposed and supported by US imperialist policy. The news of a country on the American continent gaining national independence and sovereignty, gave us a new-found hope. The leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro, immediately became known as a symbol and a representative of this hope.
In 2016, Fidel passed away, having set an indelible course as the leader of the first socialist revolution in the Americas. He was the pioneer fighter for the independence of the peoples, the leader whose interventions touched all of humanity. And Cuba, which gave birth to and shaped such a world leader as Fidel Castro, has taken its place as the homeland of humanity in the hearts and struggles of the peoples of the world.
