Member of Parliament of Sri Lanka nominates “Henry Reeve” Medical Brigade for Nobel Peace Prize

Sri Lanka, January 26, 2021. – The Member of Parliament and prominent university professor, the Honorable Dr. Tissa Vitarana, received a communication from the Norwegian Nobel Prize Committee, confirming the acceptance of the nomination that he presented days before about the candidacy of Henry Reeve International Contingent Specialized in Disasters and Serious Epidemics to the Nobel Peace Prize 2021.

In his cover letter, the prominent Sri Lankan professor affirms that the International Contingent of Doctors “Henry Reeve” of Cuba, Specialized in the management of Disasters and Serious Epidemics, has contributed enormously to global health. Their work deserves recognition and praise at this time of a global health emergency created by the COVID 19 pandemic.

Professor Tissa Vitarana also notes that: “Being a professional and a politician, I have admired the service rendered by the Henry Reeve Medical Brigade globally. While providing relief it has brought hope and inspiration to suffering humanity worldwide.”

Professor Tissa Vitarana is also the leader of the oldest political Party in Sri Lanka, established in 1935, “Lanka Sama Samaja Party” (LSSP) and Vice President of the Association of Friendship with Cuba.
