The Ambassador of Cuba in Sweden, Alba Soto Pimentel, held a meeting with Ambassador Carl Skau, Head of the Department of Politics for the UN, Conflicts and Humanitarian Affairs in the Swedish Foreign Ministry.
Topics of interest to both parties were addressed; linked to the current situation of bilateral relations and the international situation.
The Cuban Ambassador highlighted aspects related to the strategy to confront the pandemic in Cuba and the serious effects that the intensification of the blockade, as well as the measures that reflect it, such as the inclusion of Cuba in the spurious list of countries that support terrorism.
She pointed out the forthcoming presentation of the draft resolution “Need to put an end to the economic-financial and commercial blockade of the United States against Cuba”, appreciating Sweden’s traditional supportive position, which it is expected to maintain.
The Swedish diplomat offered a broad overview of the various issues under the jurisdiction of his department, addressed the intense actions of Sweden in the multilateral sphere and the willingness to continue exchanges in this area.
The dialogue took place in a constructive environment, with the parties’ interest in continuing the exchanges, with due observance of health protocols being marked.
