The board of directors of the Finland-Cuba Friendship Association, meeting on the eve of the beginning of a new international campaign of joint actions of solidarity with the Cuban people, condemns the unjust economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba.
In recent days, Cuba has ratified its willingness to develop a respectful dialogue and build a new type of relationship with the United States. We demand that the new government of Joe Biden lift the blockade and end the hostile policy.
The Friendship Association calls on all social and political sectors of Finnish society to take actions against the blockade of Cuba on April 24th and 25th, and until the vote of the United Nations General Assembly on the resolution against the blockade, that will be next June 23rd.
We also call on Finnish MEPs to support Petition 1278/2020 that has been made to the European Parliament to request that the European Union activate effective solidarity with Cuba. With this petition, the European Union is urged to take steps to break the blockade with a series of proposals from the European Parliament.
END the inhuman and unjust Blockade against Cuba!
