Cuban Head of Mission visits the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development.

Monrovia, Wednesday, March 3, 2021 – At the invitation of former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera visited the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development where she was warmly received.

After a tour of the Presidential Center, the former Liberian president invited the Cuban diplomat to attend a round table discussion on women’s political leadership in Liberia, with the participation of leaders and senators of the West African country.

The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center was founded in 2018 to be a catalyst for political and social change across Africa, helping to unleash its most abundant latent power: its women. The Center aims to magnify the voice of women and girls in all spheres of life in Africa by increasing the representation of its women in public leadership roles. The Center’s mission is to advocate for the advancement of women to the highest levels of leadership and to challenge the systemic barriers that impede the advancement of girls and women.
