Cuban Head of Mission participates in the opening ceremony of the First Extraordinary Session of the ECOWAS 2022 Parliament.

Monrovia, March 8, 2022 – In the morning hours, the Cuban Head of Mission in Liberia Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera participated, together with members of the diplomatic corps and parliamentarians of the African country, in the Opening Ceremony of the First Extraordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament for the year 2022.

The event took place at the Ministerial Complex in Monrovia, capital of the Republic of Liberia.

The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah, graced the occasion and delivered the keynote address at an event where the political and security challenges of the sub-region were discussed.

At the end of the first extraordinary session in 2022, Members of Parliament are expected to fully participate in the community’s decision-making process to ensure West Africa’s full participation in achieving the 2050 vision.

The extraordinary session will also propose concrete actions, measures and activities to support and complement the work of the ECOWAS Commission in addressing the challenges associated with the implementation of Vision 2050.
