Sydney, March 21, 2021- The Cuban Ambassador to Australia, Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez, participated in the reopening ceremony of the Ibero-American Plaza in the city of Sydney, which was originally inaugurated in 1989.
The event, which was attended by the Heads of Mission of the Embassies of Latin America and the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal, as well as authorities from the Sydney Mayor´s City, was appropriate to highlight the importance of this Plaza that brings together the busts and statues of 15 prominent figures in Latin American history and independence, as a bridge of exchange and brotherhood between Latin America and Australia.
In the case of Cuba, the Plaza houses a bust of the National Hero and Apostle of Independence, José Martí, an occasion that became propitious for the Cuban ambassador to highlight the legacy and contributions made by Martí in favor of unity, independence and the Latin American identity.
