Cuban ambassador meets with Secretary of State in Cambodia

The Ambassador of Cuba, Liurka Rodríguez Barrios, held a friendly meeting with the Secretary of State and Vice-President of the International Relations Commission of the People’s Party of Cambodia (PPC) Dr. Chem Vidhya.

The Cambodian leader ponders the ties of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and the kingdom for six decades. He recalled the help provided by the Island with the dispatch of medical brigades in difficult times for the Southeast Asian country. He also recognized the value of the Cuban health system, confirmed by the presence of brigades from the Henry Reeve Contingent in arduous combat against COVID-19 in various regions of the planet.

The Caribbean diplomat, for her part, thanked Cambodia’s position in the permanent demand for the end of the unjust United States blockade against Cuba. She also referred to the irrationality of Washington’s aggressive policy by including Cuba on the list of sponsors of terrorism, and tightening measures that affect the economy and the well-being of the people.

During the meeting, both interlocutors advocated continuing to strengthen ties between the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the PPC, whose history of mutual support constitutes a fundamental pillar of bilateral relations.
