Cuba elected Vice-Chair of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People

Nueva York, 4 February 2021. Cuba was elected today Vice-Chair of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, as part of the election of all the Bureau Members of the aforementioned Committee for 2021. The election was held in a special meeting presided over by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The election by acclamation went to Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, who in his words of appreciation denounced the difficult conditions that the Palestinians are going through in the defense of their rights and the increase in Israeli actions against their legitimate aspirations.

Pedroso stated that Cuba received this appointment as a sign of confidence and recognition of its permanent position in defense of the Palestinian people.

The Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations was also elected Chair of the Committee, and the Ambassadors of Afghanistan, Nicaragua, Namibia and Indonesia were elected Vice-Chairs.
