Association of Ethiopians who studied in Cuba and now live in Norway celebrates its anniversary and pays tribute to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

Oslo, November 29, 2021. The Association of Ethiopians who studied in Cuba and now live in Norway celebrated the third anniversary of its foundation with an activity in the city of Bergen.

The president of the Association, Tesfaye Korfil, referred to relevant aspects of the current Cuban reality, in particular the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the reinforcement of the blockade imposed by the US and the campaign of subversion and destabilization that the imperialism waged with the aim of overthrowing the Revolution. Likewise, he highlighted how, despite the difficulties, the Cuban people have reasons to celebrate, since a significant improvement in the epidemiological situation has been achieved thanks to the massive vaccination of the population with own vaccines, which has allowed the country to advance towards normality and a gradual process of recovery of economic and social activity.

In his words, Korfil expressed that he and his fellow citizens consider Cuba a second homeland and are infinitely grateful to the Cuban Revolution for the opportunity it gave them to study and graduate from various specialties.

The occasion was propitious to pay tribute to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of his physical departure. Aspects of his life and thought were addressed, including his concepts of solidarity and internationalism, thanks to which thousands of young people from different countries, including them, were trained as professionals in Cuba, and Cuban combatants participated in the wars of liberation of African nations like Ethiopia. Emotion seized those present when the video of the song “Cabalgando con Fidel”, by Raúl Torres, was viewed, making it clear that Ethio-Cubans, as they call themselves, are among the grateful who will forever accompany the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution.

During the activity, a message sent by Ambassador Maité Rivero Torres, was read. The diplomat conveyed her congratulations to the members of the Association for this new anniversary and expressed her pride in verifying that Cuba has left a significant mark on their lives and that, despite the years that have passed, it continues to be a source of inspiration for them.

The activity was attended by the president of the Association of Friendship with Cuba in Norway -Cubaforeningen i Norge-, Cihan Karakoc. (EmbaCuba Noruega)
