The head of the Cuban Mission in Vietnam, Orlando Hernández Guillén, presented today the letters that accredit him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Indochinese country.
In delivering the official documents to Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the special relations of brotherhood, companionship and mutual trust between the two nations, promoted by the historical leaders Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh.
Hernández Guillén thanked Vietnam for its consistent support to the Cuban people in their fight against the blockade imposed by the United States on the island, especially the vote in favor of the Cuban draft resolution presented at the United Nations General Assembly on June 23.
Xuan Phuc recalled that in his speach before that international forum in January 2018, he spoke out against the unjust policy of blockade against Cuba.
The Head of State affirmed that Vietnam would continue to promote comprehensive cooperation with Cuba and the strengthening of economic-commercial ties in the areas of agriculture, trade and investment, among others.
The Vietnamese leader greeted Army General Raúl Castro and the First Secretary of the Communist Party and President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel. Generations of Vietnamese leaders have treasured relations with Cuba as very special and that will not change, he assured.
