Monrovia, March 19, 2021.- In the afternoon, Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Acting Chancellor of the Republic of Liberia, Honorable Henry B. Fahnbulleh.
The cordial meeting was conducive to exchange on matters of mutual interest in the bilateral and multilateral arena. Both sides stressed the importance of further strengthening ties between the two countries.
The U.S. blockade against Cuba was one of the topics discussed. The diplomat reminded the vice-chancellor that the next vote on the Cuban Resolution on the subject would take place in June 2021, within the framework of the first resumed session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In this regard, Hon. Fahnbulleh reaffirmed the support of the Republic of Liberia to Cuba and assured that his country would accompany Cuba in that vote, as it was already traditional.
During the exchange, the willingness of both countries to continue strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties was visible.
Also participating in this meeting were the Honorable Maxwell P. Vah, Advisor to the Chancellor for American Affairs, and Mr. Lahai A. Kiazolu, Director of the Department of American Affairs.
