Minister Sajjan will speak at the annual Innovation and Impact awards ceremony organized by Cooperation Canada in collaboration with World University Service of Canada (WUSC) to recognize excellence and merit in the field of international cooperation. Minister Sajjan will join an informal conversation with youth members of the Together for Learning campaign’s Refugee Education Council on the importance of providing education for refugee, displaced and host community children and youths, during a global education crisis due to COVID-19, conflict and climate change. Cooperation Canada Awards

The Minister and panellists will answer questions from media representatives in attendance at the end of the event. Friday, February 3, 2023 – The Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada, will kick off this year’s International Development Week (IDW) with a dialogue with Canada’s Refugee Education Council and a high-level discussion on marine nature-based solutions at IMPAC5 in Vancouver. These will be followed by other key events throughout the week of February 5-11. “Go for the Goals!”, this year’s theme for IDW, is a call to action for Canadians to help advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). IDW events will highlight efforts made by Canada’s international development partners in achieving the SDGs and addressing pressing global issues in food security, climate action, health, education and gender equality.
