Europe launches consultations on testing procurement policies

Reciprocal procurement policies might ensure that Canada’s trading relationships are mutually beneficial which countries restricting Canadian access to their procurement markets tend not to unfairly benefit from Canada’s procurement system. Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister associated with International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, and the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister plus Minister of Finance, released public consultations on reciprocal procurement policies in North america. This initiative will seek views on how better to offset negative effects expected due to restrictive measures adopted simply by Canada’s trading partners, such as the United States’ Buy America measures recently introduced underneath the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act . Canada will always be a strong advocate intended for Canadian businesses and workers and will continue to pursue procedures that promote a lasting economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, support job creation, and grow Canada’s middle class. Please visit the Global Matters Canada public consultations procedure web page to share your sights. The Government of Canada will always defend the best interests of Canadian businesses and workers.   The consultations will be open up until May 30, 2022, to all Canadians, including companies, Government of Canada contractors and service providers, industry organizations, labour unions, academics, expert experts, provinces, territories, municipalities and others. March 31, 2022 – Ottawa, Ontario — Global Affairs Canada
