The Ambassador of Burundi in Washington presents his credentials to the Vice-President of the Federative Republic of Brazil

After the closure of the Embassy of Burundi in Brazil on October 06, 2020, the Government of Burundi continues to maintain relations with Brazil. Despite the presentation of credentials by the Ambassador of Burundi in Brazil, contacts have been made by the Government of Burundi with a view to strengthening cooperation in the fields of aquaculture and fish farming, the diplomatic field and many other areas.
Burundi and Brazil have maintained friendly relations since March 4, 1980. However, these relations have not yet really materialized, despite certain steps already taken which show the will of Brazil in particular to initiate cooperation Burundi. Visits conveying messages of cooperation were organised. Cooperation agreements have been signed between Brazil and Burundi in the areas of education, health, agriculture, the fight against poverty, the environment, new information and communication technologies, the industrial sector is already signed.
His Excellency Antonio in Hamilton Martins Mourao greatly appreciated Burundi’s commitment to strengthening the relations that existed between the two countries and wished Ambassador Dr. Jean de Dieu NDIKUMANA a good stay and a good job. He indeed indicated that the Federative Republic of Brazil is ready to strengthen relations with Burundi.
On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the Ambassador of Burundi in Washington His Excellency Dr. Jean de Dieu NDIKUMANA presented his credentials to His Excellency Antonio in Hamilton Martins Mourao Vice-President of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
It was a very pleasant moment for Ambassador Dr Jean de Dieu NDIKUMANA to express his joy of having been appointed as Ambassador of Burundi in the Federative Republic of Brazil. He announced to His Excellency Antonio in Hamilton Martins Mourao the desire of the Government of Burundi to restore and strengthen the relations that existed between Burundi and the Federative Republic of Brazil before the Embassy of Burundi in Brasilia was suspended.
