Burundi participates in the 3rd Turkey-Africa Summit

The activities of the 3rd Turkey-Africa Summit began on Friday December 17, 2021 at Istanbul in Turkey. The opening ceremonies of this summit were chaired by the Turkish President SE RECEP TAYYIP ERDOGAN, in the presence of some 40 African countries. The theme was “Reinforced partnership for mutual development and prosperity”.

In his opening remarks, the Turkish President expressed his satisfaction in welcoming Africans at Istanbul. He said that relations between African countries and Turkey go back a long time. He said his country is taking a win-win approach with Africa and is concerned with deepening relations with the continent by supporting it in its development.

For the case of Burundi, the President of the Republic HE Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE was represented in this summit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation HE Albert SHINGIRO.

In his speech, HE Albert SHINGIRO noted the need to orient the AFRO-TURKISH partnership to the foreign investment, trade, technology transfer, development of various infrastructures and the human capital in a win-win spirit. He thus praised the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the mutually beneficial strategic partnership with Turkey.

The 3rd Summit of Strategic Partnership between Turkey and Africa resulted in the adoption of a declaration of the new roadmap and an action plan to strengthen a mutually beneficial partnership between Turkey and Africa.
