The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a ceremony of handing over and accepting the position between the previous Minister Teodora Genchovska and the newly appointed Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Milkov.
Nikolay Milkov congratulated Teodora Genchovska on the progress achieved in the relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia, as the two united around the position that Bulgaria should conduct a dignified foreign policy with openness to society.
“The main priority for the caretaker government is the organization of the elections. The process will not be easy and we have no right to make a mistake”, Minister Milkov emphasized. According to him, efforts and work will also be focused on dealing with the complex of crises and the contribution that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can make in this regard. For this purpose, the collective approaches of interaction with our partners and allies will be used. “We will work for the inclusion of the Western Balkans to the European Union, as well as for Bulgaria’s membership in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and in Schengen”, Nikolay Milkov also pointed out.

The two emphasized the need for continuity and consistency in the actions and positions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which, according to them, has built serious traditions in the protection of national interests.
