Minister Genchovska: Children are our greatest wealth and hope for the future

At the end of April, within the Head of State’s visit to Spain, in which part of the official delegation was also Minister Teodora Genchovska, a conversation was held with the President of the Royal Football Club Real Madrid Florentino Pérez at the headquarters of the football club at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. The meeting discussed the work of the Real Madrid Foundation on various social projects in Vidin, aimed at disadvantaged children and their successful integration into society.
After the football game, the children also visited the Museum of Physical Culture and Sports, where they learned more about the history of Bulgarian sport and the top achievements of our athletes.
Official guests of the children’s celebration were also the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Vladimir Harizanov, Jaione Cereijo Lizarralde, a representative of the Embassy of Spain to Bulgaria, and the actor Krasi Radkov.
The Real Madrid Foundation is the main instrument through which the Real Madrid football team is present in society and develops cultural and social programmes. Some of these are sports-social schools, set up to support poor communities and provide access to sport for disadvantaged children. For Bulgaria, this is the first school of its kind, which works together with the Friends of Sport Foundation.
“Be healthy, inquisitive and don’t stop dreaming. You are our greatest wealth and hope for the future,” Minister Genchovska told them. She pointed out that education should go along with talent development. “In the hands of young people like you, education leads to a better world,” further added Teodora Genchovska.
During the event, the young talents showed impressive football skills and were awarded with medals. The football legend Hristo Stoichkov made a special video greeting to them and the goal scorer Martin Kamburov gave them valuable advice, wishing them to set high goals and achieve them with ease.
Around 60 children aged between 8 and 15, training football at the Real Madrid school in Vidin, arrived in Sofia to fulfill their dream of playing at the Vasil Levski National Stadium.
President Rumen Radev also sent a congratulatory address to the children.
On the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodora Genchovska, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, organized an event on the occasion of June 1 – Children’s Day, aimed at disadvantaged children from the city of Vidin and the village of Novo Selo.
