Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva joined her colleagues of another 12 EU Member States in calling on the European Commission to facilitate the access to COVID-19 vaccines to the Eastern Partnership

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva joined her colleagues of another 12 EU Member States in calling on the European Commission to facilitate the access to COVID-19 vaccines to the Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, after the Western Balkan countries were aided in this way.

A letter addressed to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and EU Commissioners for Health and Food Safety, Stella Kyriakides, and Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, reads: “Our borders will not be safe if we do not extend our support to our immediate neighbours. We are confident that our efforts will be appreciated by the Governments and civil society of the EU Eastern Partners and will increase the visibility of the geopolitical efforts of the Commission and of the whole EU”.

The letter was signed by the foreign ministers of Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Sweden.
