Deputy Minister Petrova received the Ambassador of Denmark to Bulgaria

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Bulgaria Jest Nielsen.

A wide range of issues were discussed, including the possibilities for deepening bilateral cooperation, the situation in Ukraine and the EU’s overall goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. Mutual support for applications from international organizations was also expressed.

Crises teach us lessons. “After the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, we have learned that we need to respond not only nationally but also globally”, she said. Velislava Petrova and Jes Nielsen agreed that Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified war against Ukraine cannot go unpunished.

During the meeting, the two sides also noted the constructive cooperation between them, as well as the potential for its future development. In 2021, 90 years have passed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Denmark. On this occasion, an invitation was extended by the Bulgarian President Rumen Radev to the Danish Crown Prince Frederik and his wife to visit Bulgaria. The Danish side hopes that the visit initially planned for 2021 will take place in October 2022.
