The award was presented to Ms. Yordanova by the SOFC President Ambassador Marita Landaveri and the Consul General of Bulgaria Mr. Angel Angelov, against the background of a video clip representing remarkable natural and tourist sites in Bulgaria, accompanied by Valya Balkanska’s song “Izlyal e Delyo Haidutin”.
Bulgaria was represented with two dances by “Gorana Dance”, which were loudly applauded by the guests of the event.
On March 10, 2023, an award ceremony was held organized by the New York Association of Foreign Consuls (SOFC), on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, to honor outstanding women – representatives of the various communities in New York, for their contribution to their respective communities. Fifteen countries took part in the event, including Bulgaria.
The Consulate General of Bulgaria nominated Ms. Elissaveta Iordanova, a prominent representative of the Bulgarian community in New York. She is a distinguished choreographer, teacher, artist and therapist, founder and leader of the “Gorana Dance” folklore group.
