A round table on “Countering Disinformation” was held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event was hosted by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Irena Dimitrova and the Minister of Europe and North America of the United Kingdom James Cleverly, who is on a working visit to Bulgaria. The Bulgarian side was attended by Deputy Minister of Defense Yordan Bozhilov, MP Alexandra Milcheva and representatives of the Council of Ministers, SANS and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The impact of disinformation on the current security environment and the challenges facing both sides were discussed during the discussion. The Bulgarian side outlined the achievements so far and the opportunities for deepening the bilateral cooperation between Bulgaria and the United Kingdom in the field of counteracting disinformation and hybrid threats.
Deputy Minister Irena Dimitrova thanked the British side for its assistance in building capabilities for strategic communications and countering disinformation and noted that intensive work in this direction is a priority for the Bulgarian government.
Minister Cleverly stressed that common challenges require joint action at the international level, identifying this effort as key.
