Minister of Foreign Affairs expresses Kingdom of Bahrain’s pride in celebrating International Conscience Day

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s pride in the celebration of the countries of the world, on the 5th of April of each year, of the International Day of Conscience, convinced that the human conscience is the real motive for promoting the values of peace, coexistence and brotherhood among global nations.

The Minister noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain, thanks to the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and his wise vision to promote the values of tolerance, coexistence and brotherhood for the good and peace of the world, believes that the international community must bear in mind the importance of global conscience in resolving conflicts and ending crises, stopping wars, and spreading the values of peace and coexistence in the benefit of humanity.

He added that Bahrain is proud in being a pioneer in the United Nations adoption of the 5th of April as an International Day of Conscience, based on the initiative presented by the late His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, as the Kingdom recognises that various countries in the world are suffering from serious problems such as poverty, hunger and disease, and it believes in the necessity of international cooperation to reach urgent solutions to global problems.

The Minister stated that the Kingdom, led by His Majesty the King, has been keen to deal with the COVID-19 crisis in accordance with the rules of international laws and covenants, while also upholding the ideals and values that the Kingdom believes in, including sympathy, brotherhood and humanitarian cooperation among the people of the world.

He added that Bahrain has handled the crisis and its repercussions with the utmost political and humanitarian responsibility, and provided citizens and residents with free tests, treatment and vaccination, as well as all the necessary health and social services.

The Minister called upon the international community to exercise its conscience in order to achieve justice and equality to support the countries most affected by this serious crisis, and to address the many problems afflicting developing and poor countries. We confide in the United Nations Organization, due to its sincere leadership and its specialized organizations and bodies, to efficiently lead the global efforts towards a safer, more stable and prosperous world for the good of all humankind.
