Foreign Minister holds discussion session with Deputy PM of friendly Republic of Serbia
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, held a discussion session with the Deputy Prime Minister of the friendly Republic of Serbia, Branislav Nedimovic, in the context of the official visit of President Aleksandar Vučić of the Republic of Serbia to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the distinguished course of friendly relations between Bahrain and Serbia and its development at all levels, emphasizing the importance of developing joint coordination mechanisms to serve the interests of the two friendly countries and people.
They also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultation between the foreign ministries of the two countries, in a step that reflects the constant efforts of the two friendly countries to promote their relations and further develop them.
On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs made a statement in which he praised the results of the official visit of President Alexander Vucic to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the discussions convened by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with the President of Serbia at Gudaibiya Palace, which reflects the solid relations between the two countries.
The Foreign Minister said that His Majesty the King expressed his delight with the visit of President Vučić, stressing the good relations between the two friendly countries, and the importance of promoting cooperation between Bahrain and Serbia in confronting the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as well as various areas of economy, commerce and investment. He added that the two sides also emphasized on the need to exchange visits between senior officials of the two countries, and discussed combating terrorism and ways to collaborate in this area.
The Foreign Minister also noted the directions of His Majesty the King and His Excellency the President of Serbia to conclude a memorandum of understanding between the foreign ministries of the two countries in order to provide the appropriate mechanism for political talks. He also stated that His Majesty the King issued an order to establish an Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of Serbia, and the President of Serbia issued an order to establish a Serbian Embassy in Bahrain.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, Director of the European Affairs and European Union Directorate at the Ministry, Ambassador Shaikha Aysha Ahmed Saqer Al Khalifa, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of Serbia, residing in Moscow, Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Saati.
As for the Serbian part, the meeting was attended by the Head of the department for Africa and Middle East, Ambassador Miroslav Sestovic, and the delegation of the President of the republic of Serbia, Tijana Vasilijevic.
