At Asia Cooperation Dialogue, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa calls for further cooperation and partnerships


The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, today participated, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, at the 17th ACD virtual ministerial meeting, hosted by the Republic of Turkey, under the theme of “New Normal, Safe and Healthy Tourism.”

During the meeting, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah affirmed in his speech that the Kingdom of Bahrain, as a founding member of the ACD, adheres to the objectives of the dialogue and the foundations and principles on which it is based.

He indicated the importance of strengthening cooperation among member states and establishing partnerships in major cooperation fields such as food and water security, energy and communication; Technology and innovation as well as cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

He described tourism as an important part of sustainable development goals as it can contribute significantly to the recovery of economies from the repercussions of the Coronavirus (Covid 19) pandemic, calling in this regard, for working to strengthen the relationship between tourism and culture in order to achieve growth and prosperity.


Dr. Shaikh Abdullah reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s readiness to host the first meeting of the General Secretaries of international, regional and sub-regional forums and organizations in Asia.

He said this step aims to build an information network through exchange of ideas and technical cooperation and to establish a comprehensive Asian dialogue capable of building capacities and investing in available human and financial resources.

He called for the importance of identifying the available opportunities in order to be able to create an interactive, diverse and integrated Asian society and to broaden the horizons of understanding between different cultures, noting that the Kingdom of Bahrain, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, has succeeded in establishing an ideal global model of tolerance and civilized coexistence.

The meeting issued the Ankara Declaration which called for developing mechanisms of cooperation and coordination between member states to reduce the pandemic’s negative impact on societies and economies, and to facilitate strong and resilient economic recovery towards sustainable, balanced and comprehensive growth.
