The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, during her visit in New York, met with the Albanian team in the United Nations Security Council.

She emphasized that Albania had a very successful journey in the first few months of the mandate, as a result raising the image of our country in the world.

“Albania will take the Presidency of the Security Council in June, which is the culmination of our work during the first year of the mandate, not only in terms of prestige, but also because our country will take an even more important role in defining the agenda and work of the Security Council and will have the opportunity to further advance the agenda of priorities and interests of Albania”, said Minister Xhaçka.

Referring to Albania’s agenda during the presidency, MEFA Xhaçka stressed that global efforts against violent extremism, Women, Peace and Security Agenda will be the main priorities. She instructed the team that Ukraine must continue to have Albania’s attention in the UN Security Council.

During the two-year mandate as a member of the SC, our country will chair the Presidency of the Security Council in June this year and in October 2023, periods during which Albania will have the chance to advance even further the agenda of international priorities.
