Minister Xhaçka at the “Crimea Platform” summit: We should support Ukraine so that such illegal aggressions do not happen again

“By not doing so now would jeopardize the entire international rules-based order, the entire security architecture on which we all rely for peace and stability in the world, and would encourage every country and authoritarian leader in the world, to start the same course of action”, she said.
The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, participated in the virtual Crimea Platform summit chaired by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Minister Xhaçka emphasized that the current war in Ukraine has its roots in the illegal occupation of Crimea in 2014, and according to her the world did not react as it should at that time.
“Crimea Platform”, is an international mechanism specially created by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in 2021, before the beginning of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, to draw international attention to the problem of Crimea, in order to return the peninsula to the composition of Ukraine.
According to her, every country that believes in international law should support Ukraine, so that such illegal actions are not repeated by other countries.
“Albania has supported Ukraine and its heroic resistance to aggression to the best of its abilities, by being one of the first countries to send ammunition to Ukraine, by contributing at the Donors’ Conference, by adopting the necessary legal framework that allows us to welcome in our country Ukrainians fleeing the war, by aligning fully with all EU sanctions against Russia and by doing our outmost at the Security Council, as co-penholders with our US allies, to support Ukraine diplomatically and isolate Russia. “- she said.
