Aggression against Ukraine, the General Assembly approves the resolution proposed by Albania and the US

After three days of discussions, the UN General Assembly today adopted by a clear majority of votes the resolution on aggression against Ukraine.

In a Twitter post, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, stressed that this is a clear sign that Putin must listen to humanity and stop the aggression against Ukraine.

“141 votes for peace in Ukraine!  Only 5 votes against: Russia, North Korea, Eritrea, Syria and Belarus. The world has spoken out against Russian aggression!” wrote minister Xhaçka.

This result is a clear evidence of the worldwide condemnation of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, as well as of Russia’s isolation on the international stage.

The resolution condemns Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, calls for the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory, and calls on the parties to resolve the conflict through negotiations.

Today’s resolution was based on the resolution previously submitted to the Security Council by Albania and the US, but it was blocked by Russia’s veto.
