Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets Pakistani Ambassador to Kabul

KABUL – Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Haneef Atmar met with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mansoor Ahmad Khan, this afternoon.

Highlighting the outcomes of the Pakistani Chief of Army Staff visit to Kabul, Minister Atmar emphasized on implementation of the commitments and decisions taken during the said visit. Foreign Minister likewise, stressed on strengthening and expansion of bilateral cooperation to create a conducive space to resume meaningful peace talks.

The Pakistani Ambassador underscored the importance of bilateral relations and the role of Afghanistan’s peace and stability in Pakistan’s prosperity and economic development.

Highlighting the recent developments in the peace process, Mr. Khan assured Minister Atmar of Pakistan’s comprehensive support to peace and stability in Afghanistan, emphasizing that Pakistan does not support the seizure of power through military and calls for political settlement.

Minister Atmar and the Pakistani Ambassador also discussed and exchanged views on the concerns and opportunities related to the bilateral relations, as well as the continuation and strengthening of cooperation within bilateral frameworks including APAPPS.

The two sides also talked on the Afghanistan – Pakistan – China trilateral meeting, to be held on June 3, 2021.
